Probably any visitor can't miss the most famous tourist places during a visit of Prague.
During the visit, you can use the services of professional guides and agencies or rely on guidebooks and maps. This WM describes a typical tourist route, on which it is possible to get acquainted with the main tourist sights in Prague.
And moreover... you have a chance to visit several hundreds of waymarks.
The starting point of this route is the upper part of Wenceslas Square - the main square in Prague. There is also an equestrian statue of St. Wenceslas (
visit link) , meeting place for the citizens of Prague and it is also an excellent landmark and reference point for all tourists.
Go down the Wenceslas Square, then continue straight through Na Mustku (
visit link) and Melantrichova streets . Melatrichova street will bring you to typically narrow streets of the Old Town. At the end of Melantrichova street is the central point of Old Prague - Old Town Square. Directly in front of you will be the world's unique Astronomical Clock (
visit link) . There is also many other landmarks - Old Town Hall (
visit link) , The Church Of Our Lady Before Tyn (
visit link) , a lot of old palaces 300-500 years old, etc.
The route then leads through the Little Square (CZ: Malé námestí) (
visit link) to the Charles Street [CZ: Karlova ulice] (
visit link) , which takes up to the next curiosity of the world - the Charles Bridge (
visit link) . While walking across the Charles Bridge you will see a beautiful panorama of Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral (
visit link) . St. Vitus Cathedral is on the opposite bank of the Vltava river.
After crossing the bridge you will find yourself in the next part of the city - Lesser Town [CZ: Mala Strana]. The center of this part is the Lesser Town Square (
visit link) . From this square I recommend you to continue by Nerudova and Ke Hradu Street (
visit link) to the main dominant of Prague - Prague Castle (
visit link) . From the castle hill there is a wonderful view of the centre of Prague (
visit link) .
I finish this route here. Everyone can then individually decide what interested him most: the Castle, the Cathedral (
visit link) or surrounding castle gardens, medieval streets of Lesser Town and/or the Old Town, Petrin Hill with tower (
visit link) or Stahov Monastery (
visit link) , ...
Note
I recommend to go earlier in the morning, otherwise the way is full of tourists (or waymarkers? :-))
