This monument is dedicated to 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. This is the only marker to the 23rd Tennessee Infantry on the battlefield. It marks their location at sundown Sept. 20, 1863.

1'6" wide x 1' deep x 3' high, the marker is a rectangular block of smooth-faced Tennessee gray marble.
