New Salem Academy was built in 1908. It has a hip roof with an observation platform. Consturcted of hollow concrete blocks, containing boys and girls dressing rooms, 2 recitation rooms and a front hall. The second floor has an assembly hall, recitation room and an office. The Tower on rises out of the building and contains a clock.
This building was built when a larger facility were deemed necessary for Academy students. In 1915 an Agricultural Dept was voted to be established by the town. In 1935 the Household Arts department was established.
