The
Yreka Police Department is located in the Former Carnegie Library and moved into this building in 1970. This building is a National Register of Historic Places
structure.
From the police department website:
The Yreka Police Department is staffed with 14 sworn personnel and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to serve our community. The Yreka Police Department offers additional assignments in DARE, Detectives, Field Training Officer and Narcotics Task Force. The Yreka Police Department also offers free services to the community, such as child car seat inspection, free cars seats to those in need, and bike helmets for children.
There is a plaque monumented on the front of the building that memorializes a former police officer killed in the line of duty. His story and bio can be visited here.
