This house was built for Richard and Ella Goodin around 1908. Mr. Goodin served as supervisor and chief accountant for the
Oregon State Hospital. Later in life, Goodin served as superintendent for the
State School for the Blind. The Goodins sold the house in 1927 to
Orrin and Jennie Emmons. Mr. Emmons was an attorney, who ultimately practiced law until age 80. The Emmons lived at this house for the remainder of their lives, with Mr. Emmons passing in 1953 while Mrs. Emmons died in 1962. The Emmons' daughter Genevieve Emmons Armstrong inherited the house and was still living there at the time of the historic district nomination in 1986.
