This house was built in 1904 for
Joseph Watt's daughter
Elizabeth Watt. By 1921, a then mentally-incompetent Miss Watt leased the house to Bertha Watson and G.H. McElroy who then reportedly "swindled" the house from her. After Watt's death in 1925, her relatives sued and were awarded the property by the court. Elizabeth's cousin Cora Holman was deeded the house in 1928.
Garland Hollowell, an employee in the Secretary of State's office acquired the house in 1936 and lived there for 31 years.
