Pat's King of Steaks is famous for inventing the Philly cheesesteak, and has been serving the steaks wit (with onions) and wit-out (no onions) ever since.
Pat's chesesteak "war" with their competitor across the street has been going on for a long time. People in Philly are very opinionated about who has the best steak. This kind of dramam makes for good TV, so both steak shops have been featured on several Food Network shows, and on other TV shows too. Everybody loves a good food fight!
Pat's wiz wit steak was featured on the Food Network show The Best Of . . . Sandwiches. It won the food war with their cross-street competitor on the 10 Oct 2010 episode "Cheesy Feuds" on the Food Network show "Food Feuds."
Blasterz have had steaks in both places, and for us Pat's is the clear winner. Mama and Older Sister Blaster get steaks wiz wit - with Cheese Whiz and onions. Younger Sister Blaster likes hers wiz wit-out. Daddy Blaster likes his wit-out with mushrooms peppers and Provolone. The hot peppers are to die for -- and they will kill you if you aren't used to eating the hot stuff. Mama Blaster lives for those hot peppers!!
