This Monument to the 74th Ohio Infantry Regiment is located in the wooded area on the western edge of the Brotherton Field near the split rail fence on the west side of Lafayette Rd in the Chickamauga NMP.

This Monument is dedicated to the
74th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment , is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks the unit's position from the evening of September 19, 1863 until 9:00 a.m. on September 20th.

2ND DIVISION,
14TH ARMY CORPS
Text on rear:
This regiment, Capt. Joseph
Fisher commanding, took this
position on the evening of Sept.
19th, 1863, and occupied it till
9:00 A.M. of Sept 20th. When it
moved to the left and rear under
orders of its Division Commander.
It was only for a short time engaged
in the action.
Its loss in the Campaign was
1 killed, 2 wounded and 6 missing,
which occurred in a
skirmish Sept. 11th.
Physical Description:
"A rough-edged commemorative marker with a relief of a uniformed Civil War soldier firing his rifle from behind a large rock. The soldier kneels on his proper right knee and faces right, the stock of the rifle resting on his shoulder, his hands positioning the rifle. He wears a cap and has a pouch at his waist. Above the relief, in the upper left corner of the marker, is a medallion of the Ohio State seal. In the upper right corner of the marker is the 14th Army Corps badge in relief. The marker is set upon a short, two-tiered base."

Short Physical Description
7'6" x 4'3" x 2'10" monument consists of slab on stepped base featuring relief carving of kneeling soldier firing from behind a rock. Bronze state seal in upper left, and a bronze tablet on back.
Long Physical Description
Monument is located within the Chickamauga Battlefield in the southwest corner of Brotherton Field, map #190.
