This structure is as big as it is red, and with as many windows as any other former home on this historic road. Check satellite imagery and one can see its reddest thing on the street.

Not wanting to be outdone. this three story dwelling sided over the brick at the top two floors like the other former residences up and down this road. It too is used for a business below, with apartments up top similar to other dwellings. I always thought of this place as the house with too many windows, 11 in all! With an eastern facing, I am sure everyone in this former residence was up at the crack of dawn and on time for work. The shutters make a wonderful feature of the windows and are all in great shape. There are three separate entrances, all in the front and recessed and spread like a fan. This is a corner property as well. A unique feature is the long rows of brick steps leading tot he front. Its elevation is not ground level but raised 3 feet off the ground, at least a foot higher than the dwelling next to it.

For a more detailed and informed physical description of this site, I have added information from the original nomination form sent to me by John P. Byrne, National Register Database Manager (John_Byrne@nps.gov), Department of the Interior. This narrative was created March 16, 1979, mailed in to Washington, D.C. and evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982. Thanks to this designation and the efforts of the community to stop developers in the early 70s, Haddonfield is permanently protected and is one of the best example of an intact Colonial America.

"3-story early 19th century frame residence adapted to offices on the first floor, apartments above. Pent eave across front has been added. Offices have divided lights in large bulk windows which are harmonious with character of original house." --- National Register of Historic Places Inventory -- Haddonfield Historic District Nomination Form
