This house is located on one of the oldest streets in Haddonfield. From early 1800, Tanner St. was a residential street & remains of very choice early residential housing. This house has undergone SERIOUS change since the narrative was written.

Many of these homes have been adapted to suit offices and shops. There are new buildings as well which, for the most part, are compatible in height, design, and material used. This is a business for a violin shop and is nothing like the description written thirty years ago. I strained to see the similarities to the narratives but only found a few idenitifiable features. Nevertheless, this is an old home and definitely worthy of its contributing status.

The following information comes from the NRHP District nomination form, created March 16, 1979, evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982.

"Very choice twin 2 story residences built about 1810. Early wide inset chimneys, tin roof, nice cornice work, with original horizontal siding. Windows 9 over 6 on the first floor, 6 over 6 on the second floor, shutters. Classic portico on the front right at street level. heavy 6 panel doors with 4 light transom over. In excellent condition and the most charming early 19th century houses on Tanner Street, completely original. Historic quality of these homes is another reason why tanner Street was included in the Historic District."
