"According to a dating plaque on the west side, the building, which was renewed in 1657, received around 1760, including the uppermost mill floor, the architectural form restored around 1930 and renovated on the exterior. The building occupies the site of the first mill built on the diverted Leuk and is mentioned in 1366. In 1900 the electric power station was opened here. The preserved medieval remains of the recognizable technical equipment give knowledge of the early mill construction.
Building standing alone in the middle of the market area divided by the Leuk River. It is raised to the height of the market development by three mill stories over a rocky ledge at the waterfall. The mill floors, built of red sandstone ashlars, are strongly sloped and still medieval in their base.
In an important position for the market square, visible from all sides, the building has design value and landmark character for Saarburg."
