Muir Beach is a small park in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It is three miles from Muir Woods and is often less crowded than its neighbor Stinson Beach. The Muir Beach sandbar traps some of the outflowing water from Redwoods Creek in a lagoon. Park visitors can splash in the cool ocean surf or wade on the warm calm waters of the logoon.

Hikers have access to the Coastal and Green Gulch Trails fro here. They can go east to scenic Coyote Ridge or south to Tennessee Cove.

Every autumn thousand of Monarch butterflies migrate to the California coast. A grove of Monterey Pine at Muir Beach is one location where these orange and black butterflies spend the winter.
