Stinson Beach is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Its three mile long, white sand beach make it one of northern California'a favorite beaches for swimming. It is also popular for board and wind surfing, rafting and boogie-boarding. There are extensive picnic tables and barbecues. On hot days, the parking lot often fills up by 11AM.

The adjacent town of Stinson Beach has several restaurants, a small grocery store and a handful of shops.
