About 1½ miles south of Polson on the east side of Highway is a roadside viewpoint with some informational signs. This is one, telling of a Salish creation story related to what one sees at the viewpoint.

Describe the area and history:
From this excellent viewpoint atop the moraine one looks north up the valley toward Flathead Lake. There are two islands visible in the lake which is backdropped by the Mission Mountains, still snow capped when we visited in April.
