This stairway is at West Cliff Drive and Pelton Avenue near the Surfer Memorial. It is primarily used by surfers to descend the cliff to access the Pacific Ocean and the Steamer Lane surfing area. There is a handrail that only goes down half way. The last flight of stairs that ends in the ocean is weathered from the pounding of the surf and some of the steel rebar rods have been exposed. Caution should be used if descending on the lower half of the stairway.
number of stairs (minimum 60): 68.00

stair landing (check if yes): yes
