The building at 509 E. 5th Street is known as the White Building. It was constructed in 1920 and is a two-story brick building in the Early Commercial style.
The second floor has two sets of paired windows, which are boarded up and have stone sills. A soldier course of brickwork outlines each pair of windows. Stone accents decorate the upper corners of the windows, and along the roof line. The stepped parapet has stone coping.
The original storefront is boarded up, and an overhead garage door has been added. The building is vacant. A stone name/date plate on the upper wall reads "19 WHITE 20". This building is Item 15 on the District nomination.
