This is one of many granite posts used to mark points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the Town of Essex and the Town of Hamilton. The letters "E" (for Essex) and "H" (for Hamilton) are inscribed on opposite sides. It is approximately eight by sixteen inches, and about two feet tall.

It is reached by following a long farm road east from Sagamore Street, and then following your GPS further east to a stone wall separating two fields. The marker is on the east side of, but close to, the stone wall. This is all private property. Please ask permission before entering.

The next adjacent marker heading west is Essex-Hamilton-Ipswich, 0.2 miles.
The next adjacent marker heading south is Essex-Hamilton 2, 0.3 miles.
