Built in the early 1900, Muschelgrotte (German for Shell Grotto) and its fountain have been the central part of Marienberg Park in the center of the town of Brandenburg.

Originally, the fountain was adorned with real shells, donated by citizen.

Unfortunately, the fountain had been vandalized several times.

Thus, in 2015, the original shells have been replaced by silica copies (see picture left).

Marienberg (Mary's Hill) is a 222 feet tall hill in the center of the German city Brandenburg. Starting in 1830, large parts of the area have been turned into a municipal park.
