It opened in 1927 with seating for 1878 people. It was named for Beaumont’s position as Jefferson’s county seat. It is a Renaissance Revival/Old Spanish Style building.

Brick building with white cement decorations. The third floor balcony has three doors. The center door has an emblem above it. The other two end in peaks. On either side of the balcony are round bas relief pictures . Bas relief art is spaced at intervals along the roofline.
