The VFW War Memorial is a large park area just east of the VFW meeting house, at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Wildflower Run on the west side of Bristow. It contains numerous items of military equipment, many of which are dedicated to a particular veteran. The display was sponsored by VFW Post 3656 of Bristow.
This M114 Armored Command Carrier rests behind a granite monument which gives its statistics and is dedicated to the 45th Infantry (Thunderbird) Division. This vehicle was built by the Cadillac Division of General Motors in the early 1960's. It was amphibious and could be deployed by parachute. It was powered by a Chevrolet V-8 283 engine, held three men, and could run at a maximum of 36 mph. [information obtained from Wikipedia].
