"Cette très belle réalisation Art déco est l’œuvre d’un duo d’architectes actifs à Charleroi dans les années 1920, Jules Laurent et Marcel Depelsenaire.
Construite en 1920 en briques et calcaire, et récemment restaurée avec brio, elle possède une façade dont la décoration s’inspire du monde animal et du monde végétal. Sous le bow-window surplombant la porte d’entrée se trouve une chouette déployant ses ailes et semblant ainsi soutenir la maçonnerie en avancée de la fenêtre. À gauche de ce bow-window, un des châssis est orné d’une créature fantastique (une sorte de dragon).
Les différentes baies de la façade sont également agrémentées de vitraux. On y retrouve toutes les caractéristiques de l’architecture de Depelsenaire : goût du détail pittoresque, soin dans l’agencement des volumes, souci du détail parfois exprimé avec humour. Également peintre, l’architecte dessinait lui-même les éléments du bestiaire qui orne ses réalisations monumentales."

"This beautiful Art Deco achievement is the work of a duo of active architects in Charleroi in the 1920s, Jules Laurent and Marcel Depelsenaire.
Built in 1920 in brick and limestone, and recently restored with brilliance, it has a facade whose decoration is inspired by the animal world and the plant world. Under the bow window overlooking the front door is an owl spreading its wings and seeming to support the masonry in advance of the window. To the left of this bow window, one of the chassis is adorned with a fantastic creature (a kind of dragon).
The different bays of the facade are also decorated with stained glass windows. We find all the features of Depelsenaire architecture: taste of picturesque detail, care in the arrangement of volumes, attention to detail sometimes expressed with humor. Also a painter, the architect himself designed the elements of the bestiary that adorns his monumental achievements."
