In Walpole, at the center of town, is a series of three parcels grouped together as the Walpole Town Green.
The green is along Main Street and Common Street. There are two triangular parcels connected by a rectangularish lot. There are roads that separate the lots from one another. The lots each have their own character, yet are connected together mainly via grassy areas.
The northeast triangular lot has a fountain at the eastern tip. Also on this portion are a couple memorials including one for veterans of the Vietnam War.
The middle quadrangle has a memorial to veterans surrounding a tree and a gazebo.
The south triangular lot has a couple war memorials.
The greens were likely differently shaped in the early days of the town. It was the meeting place of the militia before they marched to the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Also, two national guard units also met on the green before being deployed in World War II.
