Shamrock is one of the towns which sprung up overnight when oil was discovered nearby in the 1910's. Once boasting a population of 10,000, with thousands in camp sights surrounding the town, Shamrock was a wild frontier town. When the oil depleted, so did the town's population, and today it is a ghost town of less than 100 residents.

This was a busy garage when Fred Wensauer (8-9-1882 - 9-13-1956) built this station. A concrete block above the entrance reads: "Fred Wensauer & Sons / 1927". The date 1927 is also written in dark river rock on the front of the building. The garage is constructed of native sandstone, with a beaded mortar. It is trimmed in various places with a darker, round river rock, giving it a "fancy" look. a drive-thru at the front has large rock pillars supporting the roof, which today is gone. The shop area also has no roof, and trees have grown up inside the building. It is quite an amazing sight and stands as a testament to the active days of Shamrock's past.
