[EN] "The Olympic Rings were designed by the Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin, inventor of the modern Olympic Games, in 1913, before they became the symbol of the Games (in Antwerp) in 1920. They consist of five intertwined rings in the colours blue, yellow, black, green and red and symbolize the five continents. The colours are assigned to the national flags of the participating nations and not to the continents.
The Berlin Olympic Stadium was built on the occasion of the XI Summer Olympic Games between 1934 and 1936 according to the plans of architect and professor Werner March (with the support of his brother Walter)."
