As mentioned above, the block of Hawkesbury sandstone is irregularly shaped, probably from natural weathering, and set back from the concrete and asphalt walkway between Manly Beach and Shelly Beach, near the Fairy Bower Ocean Baths. It is within sight of the "Shell and Wave" sandstone sculpture. The bronze plaque for the Historical Marker reads:
This plaque commemorates the
granting of 30 acres to Gilbert Baker
and 100 acres to Richard Cheers in
January 1810 - being the first Crown
Grants of land at Manly.
Erected by Manly Council in 2008 to replace
the original plaque by Manly, Warringah &
Pittwater Historical Society in 1960.
