Long Description:

Pico Viejo is a volcano located on the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). It is the second highest peak in Tenerife and the Canary Islands after the Teide. The summit is at an altitude of 3,134 m above sea level.
Its crater is huge, it is about 720 meters in diameter!

The volcano is part of the Teide volcanic complex, which began to form about 200,000 years ago in central Tenerife. Its crater is one of the satellite craters around El Teide.
The last eruption took place inside the caldera de las Cañadas. From June 9 to September 14, 1798, a force 3 volcanic eruption took place on its flank. During these three months, millions of m³ of lava came out and formed a black surface, different from the rest of the volcanic region, known as Teide Noses (Teide nostrils).
