Findagrave (see Website, below) notes that John William Brown, Maria's husband and Emma's father, is also buried here, but there is no reference to him on the monument.

Emma passed on just four months after her mother. Her side of the monument has the family name, "Brown", on the plinth, and there is a rose garland that wraps around the center of the obelisk. The three links of the Odd Fellows, along with the All-Seeing Eye, are on the shaft, which is probably a nod to Mr. Brown, as Mrs. Brown would have been a Rebekah. The panel reads:

Emma Johanna
Brown

Born July 10, 1896,
Died Apr. 27, 1903,

Aged 6 Years
9 Months 17 Days.

Below the family name is an epitaph:

God needed one more angel child
Amidst his shining band;
And so he bent with loving smile
And clasped our darling's hand.

---

Mrs. Brown's panel reads:

Maria Johanna
Brown

Born May 13, 1863,
Died Dec. 22, 1902,

Aged 39 Years
7 Months 9 Days.

On the plinth is an epitaph:

Dearest mother, thou has left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel;
But tis God who has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.

---

Panel three features a crown, and the family name is on the plinth, above this epitaph:

Peaceful be thy silent slumber,
Peaceful in thy grave so low;
Thou no more will join our number,
Thou no more our sorrows know.

---

Panel four features a funeral wreath, with this epitaph on the plinth:

Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the day of life is fled;
And in Heaven with joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tears are shed.
