The Oosterbegraafplaats in Alphen aan den Rijn was built at the end of the 1930s and replaced the general cemeteries of the former municipalities of Alphen, Aarlanderveen and Oudshoorn. These cemeteries were built after the prohibition of 1829 on burial within existing church buildings.
