English abstract:
Between 1873 and 1903 the dead from Schiebroek were buried in Overschie.
When Overschie needed the space on the cemetery itself, Schiebroek had to look for a location for his own cemetery. The choice was made for a plot of the widow H. Nicolaas - Bak. The widow sold a plot of 35 by 20 meters under the condition that she would get a free grave for herself. At the end of 1903 the cemetery was completed and in 1904 the first dead was buried there.
When the cemetery became full in 1920, the municipality started looking for a new location. In the end, the need for a cemetery of its own by the annexation by Rotterdam in 1941 was lost. The last dead was buried in 1954. In total, 190 people were buried in the cemetery, including 83 children.
In the past there have been regular plans to clear the cemetery, but grave number 1, the grave of the widow H. Nicolaas - Bak, could not be cleared.
It is clear to see how the cemetery stands on a mound, the reason for this is that Schiebroek is about 5 meters below sea level.
The cemetery is not open to the public, but The -Source!!- showes a picture from the inside !!
