French enthusiasts spurred internatinal interest in black American music by releasing records, arranging tours, and conducting pionering researchon jazz and blues. The Cahors Blues festival, first stage en 1982, has built upon this long tradition througt its presentation of hundreds of musicians, including many fromthe stateof Mississipi.
