DESCRIPTION DE L'OEUVRE
Le stéthoscope est un objet qui symbolise le lien de confiance entre un médecin et son patient. Il est une icône de la médecine moderne et de sa relation privilégiée avec le public. Il nous est apparu pertinent de disposer cet objet dans l’espace de manière à ce que les embouts auriculaires soient dirigés vers le bâtiment de l’Hôpital pour adultes alors que le récepteur de son soit pour sa part orienté vers les quartiers avoisinants. Cette disposition nous permet d’accentuer l’essentielle notion d’écoute présente dans la relation entre un praticien et son patient. Le stéthoscope est un objet qui illustre le contact entre deux individus, il est la représentation du caractère humain de la médecine. Le choix du rouge et du bleu pour colorer les deux tubes du stéthoscope réfèrent aux modèles anatomiques médicaux. Il s’agit du code de couleur servant à représenter la circulation sanguine. Ce choix illustre l’échange et la fluidité.

The stethoscope symbolizes the relationship of trust between physician and patient; and as an icon of modern medicine, it has a special relationship with the public. The artists felt it would be fitting to position the statue in such a way that the ear tips lean toward the adult hospital, while the chestpiece points toward the surrounding neighbourhoods. This placement highlights the essential notion of listening at play in the relationship between practitioner and patient. The stethoscope, as an object, illustrates the contact between two individuals — it represents the human dimension of medicine. The decision to paint the two stethoscope tubes red and blue refers to anatomical medical models and the colour code used to represent blood circulation. The choice conveys the notion of exchange and flow.
