"Construite en 1890 par l’architecte François Guiannotte pour l’entrepreneur Joseph Charon, cette belle maison est représentative du style Sécession viennoise, courant de l’Art nouveau né en Autriche à la fin du 19e siècle. Contrairement à l’Art nouveau développé en Belgique, ce courant est moins végétal et plus géométrique. La maison Lafleur adopte en effet un aspect cubique, possède des façades aux briques enduites (contrairement aux briques nues habituelles de l’Art nouveau chez nous) avec une ornementation géométrique et adopte des formes découpées en trapèze aux niveaux des fenêtres.

Au moment de son classement en 1989, l’édifice a bénéficié d’une restauration et d’une extension, sous la direction des architectes Paul Warin et Luc Schuiten. Une véranda a été ajoutée à l’arrière, soutenue par une structure en bois dite « en bec d’oiseau », librement inspirée du travail de Victor Horta. Cette annexe est visible en façade, par le portail situé à droite de l’entrée ; les formes de cette annexe et de ses éléments de ferronnerie permettent à cette intervention contemporaine de s’intégrer parfaitement et harmonieusement avec l’édifice d’origine."
