1913 - Henry Ford's first moving assembly line kicks into gear in Highland Park, MI.
1923 - President Warren G. Harding dies of a heart attack, and won't face the music for the scandals from his administration.
1933 - Prohibition is repealed in the United States, ending an unsuccessful "war" on substances.
1943 - Members of the White Rose non-violent resistance group are executed by the Nazi regime in Germany.
1953 - Josef Stalin dies before he is able to carry out another purge, based on a "doctors plot."
1963 - The Coca-Cola Company introduces a diet soft drink, TaB. Watch for a nod to it in "Back to the Future" some years later.
1973 - The World Trade Center is dedicated in New York, as construction on the CN Tower begins in Toronto.
