Site Location: On Western Side of Green Island in Blue Hill Bay about 3 mi southeast of Brooklin.

Directions to this site: Brooklin, ME - Take boat from local town.

Nearest City/Town: Brooklin, ME

Purpose: To guide ships through Eggemoggin Reach connecting Penobscot Bay and the western edge of Blue Hill Bay.

Active: Discontinued in 1933. Replaced by automatic light on skeleton tower in 1935.

Site established: 1857 by Franklin Pierce

Built: 1857

Ht. Above Sea level: 25 ft

Tower: 22 ft Cylindrical - Attached to Keeper's House.

Tower Material: Brick - White

Keeper's Quarters: 1½ Story Colonial Cape - Private Residence

Oil House: 1905 - Brick

Lens: 1857 - 5º Fresnel Lens 1905 - 4º Fresnel Lens

Light Color: Green - On Skeletal Tower

Light Characteristics: Flashing every 4 seconds

Management: Privately Owned by a Texas couple.

Site Status: Site Closed, Tower:Closed

Best Seen From: Private Boat or Air Only - Private Residence

Notes: Island is 3/4 acre at high tide, 2 acres at low tide.
