[GER] Wenn man das Hamburger Rathaus durch den Haupteingang unter dem Turm betritt, befindet man sich in der großen Halle. Auf der Linken Stirnseite befindet sich die Treppe mit Eingang zum Senatsflügel. Hier befindet sich das schmiedeeiserne Gittertor.
Der Lebensbaum des Senatsgeheges um gibt es. Das goldene „Sandsteingewände“ um das Rankenwerk des schmiedeeisernen Gittertors hat eine gobelinartige kostbare Wirkung und leitet hinein in das prächtige Senatstreppenhaus. Erschaffen wurde es vom Bildhauer Karl Börner (1828–1905). Zwischen den Eichenzweigen versteckt finden sich allerlei kleine Tiere, ein Eichhörnchen, einen Specht, eine Schnecke, Falter und auch ein Uhu.
Über dem Tor befindet sich das große Hamburg-Wappen mit Helmzier und den flankierenden Löwen rechts und links.

[ENG] When you enter Hamburg City Hall through the main entrance under the tower, you are in the large hall. On the left front is the staircase with entrance to the "Senatsgehege" with his wrought-iron lattice gate.
The tree of life enclosure is around it. The golden "sandstone walls" around the tendrils of the wrought-iron lattice gate have a tapestry-like precious effect and lead into the magnificent Senate staircase. It was created by the sculptor Karl Börner (1828-1905). Hidden between the oak branches are all kinds of small animals, a squirrel, a woodpecker, a snail, butterflies and also an eagle owl.
Above the gate is the large Hamburg coat of arms with crest and the flanking lions on the right and left.
