This Township Hall is a great example of an early civic government building in rural Ontario. It was designated in 1991. Since January 1, 2001, the building has been the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand Hall, when those two municipalities amalgamated.

* It was opened in 1859.
* Cost of construction was 940 Pounds and the land was an additional 25 Pounds.
* The main floor was originally home to merchants and a jail.
* The building contains a vault that was left behind by Standard Bank.
* Upstairs has a stage with a painted bucolic stage curtain [see photo].
* It is done in a Romanesque Revival style. Features include arched windows, hipped roof and 8' copula.
