The plaque is on the facade of the world-renowned French restaurant, La Grenouille, in New York City's ritzy Fifth/Madison Avenue district.
M. de Saint-Exupéry was also a poet and famous aviator who, at the relatively advanced age of his early 40s, flew for the Allied forces in World War II. In 1944, on a mission from Corsica his plane went missing in the sea. A bracelet with his name was later found and in 2000 a diver found a plane that was later identified as the one M. de Saint-Exupéry flew.
