On the northern side of the large Memorial is a rectangular bronze plaque with a heavy green patina, for the Founders of South Australia, which reads:
To the Memory of
Edward Gibbon Wakefield
Robert Gouger
Robert Torrens
George Fife Angas
and other Founders
who overcame
great difficulties
to secure the
South Australian
Foundation Act
of 1834
and who continued
to labour ceaselessly
until the Province
was firmly established
On the broad western side of the monument is the following inlaid inscription:
Here
at Holdfast Bay
landed the
Pioneer Settlers
and
Governor Hindmarsh
announced the
Establishment of
the Government
on Dec. 28th 1836

[From the Monuments Australia website it seems that was also a plaque on the south side of the monument, for the early explorers of South Australia, but unfortunately I did not get a photo of that.]
