Just looking at the privy, one would think it was a classic 'two-holer' but this is not the case.
Inside is a one-hole stall and an area where supplies may be kept. But, there were no sanitary supplies on hand, only a shovel.
The privy is in need of some maintenance with the shingles getting deteriorated and the paint needs re-doing.
Location: The church and privy were constructed in early 1880s and services began as soon as completed. With no water lines and sewer lines available, country outhouses used small buildings over hand-dug holes.
The church body held its last service in 2008 and the building itself, less the steeple, was moved to Webster, SD, in 2014.
The privy was left in place to service the cemetery.
