[GER] Die Skulptur trägt den Namen "Kontinuität". Der Schweizer Bildhauer Max Bill (*1908, +1994) meißelte die 4,50 Meter hohe Skulptur aus einem Monolithen aus Granit. Mit einem Gewicht von 80 Tonnen ist "Kontinuität" eine der schwersten Granitskulpturen der Welt. In ihr spiegelt sich Bills langjähriges Interesse für Mathematik und seine Beschäftigung mit mathematisch-geometrischen Grundlagen wider. Für Max Bill kann Kunst auf Basis einer mathematischen Denkweise entwickelt werden. So versinnbildlicht "Kontinuität" das mathematische Phänomen des "Möbiusbandes" d.h. die Skulptur ist in Form einer kontinuierlichen Endlosschleife gehalten.
Nachdem die Skulptur lange Zeit den Vorplatz der Doppeltürme der Deutschen Bank zierte, befindet sie sich seit 2011 in der Taunusanlage neben der Deutschen Bank. Entstanden ist sie 1983, aufgestellt wurde sie ursprünglich 1986.
[ENG]The sculpture is called "Kontinuität (continuity)". The Swiss sculptor Max Bill (* 1908, +1994) carved the 4.50 meter high sculpture from a granite monolith. With a weight of 80 tons, "continuity" is one of the heaviest granite sculptures in the world. It reflects Bill's long-standing interest in mathematics and his preoccupation with mathematical-geometric foundations. For Max Bill, art can be developed on the basis of a mathematical way of thinking. Thus, "Kontinuität" symbolizes the mathematical phenomenon of the "Möbius strip". The sculpture is held in the form of a continuous loop.
After the sculpture has long adorned the forecourt of the double towers of the Deutsche Bank, since 2011 it is located in the Taunusanlage next to the Deutsche Bank. It was created in 1983 and installed originally in 1986.
