The area was a campground for 70 years. Owned by the Girl Scouts of America from 1914 to 1949, then by the United Church of Christ. It was purchased by Suzanne Upjohn Delano Parish in 1987 and, through her estate, she bequeathed the property to the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy in December 2011. The Dining Hall could seat 300 people. The Pilgrim Haven Natural Area is 27 acres and has 750' of Lake Michigan frontage.
