California's Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park is mainly famous for its great outcropping of marbleized limestone with some 1,185 mortar holes — the largest collection of bedrock mortars in North America. But it also features a number of ancient petroglyphs.

Some of these carvings are thought to as much as two or even three thousand years old and are now becoming difficult to see. A poster of all petroglyphs can be seen at the museum. The most obvious ones are a weaving patern, a circle, believed to be a sun symbol and a human hand.
