Secours Catholique is a non-profit association created on September 8, 1946 by Father Jean Rodhain1. Catholic Relief is attentive to the problems of poverty and exclusion of all publics and seeks to promote social justice.
Recognized of public utility in 1962, the association was declared a great national cause in 1988. It also establishes reports for the information of the government, in social matters in particular. It is the French branch of the Caritas Internationalis network.
The association is chaired since June 19, 2014 by Véronique Fayet who succeeds François Soulage.
