A mutilated stone figurine laid in a wall niche of the south aisle of All Saints' church, Culmstock. A note above it tells us:
This mutilated figure was formerly built
into one of the walls of an old cottage - now
destroyed, at Prescott - a hamlet of this
Parish - upon which site stood a Pre-
Reformation Chapel, which was in all probability
connected with the house of "John Prestecote
of Prestcote", a wealthy man who resided at
Prescott about the year 1400.
In his will he left many gifts to the
Chapel - of which he speaks as if his private
property. There is much reason to believe
the figure belonged to the Chapel.
The figure was kindly presented to
this Church by J.W. Clarke Esq of Halberton
