From the information board near the tower, it is reported that special cannon crews would fire a cannon from the tower down into the Star Fort. It is a six-pound cannon replica. As its name implies, it fires a six-pound projectile. The projectile may be a six-pound ball or even the dreaded grapeshot cartridge.
