Tranche-sur-Mer: unspoilt nature on the edge of the ocean.
Is it because it faces the island of Ré or because, surrounded by marshes, it has long been isolated?
The Tranche preserves and cultivates its island character. We find the charm of low houses with white walls and red tile roofs; we get lost in the cobbled streets that intertwine and finally converge to the Great Square in the center of the village.
Four neighborhoods, four faces: The village center is the heart of life. There is the church and its parvis renovated, the main market square, the Halles, the Tourist Office and of course the pedestrian shopping streets that lead to the Central Beach. To the south, the coastal sector of the Grière prized by secondary residents; the lighthouse district, on the edge of the forest; finally further north, in reverse dune, the hamlet of the Terrière.

Est-ce parce qu’elle fait face à l’ile de Ré ou parce que, entourée par les marais, elle a longtemps été isolée ?
La Tranche conserve et cultive son caractère insulaire. On y retrouve le charme des maisons basses aux murs blancs et aux toitures de tuiles rouges ; on s’y perd dans les ruelles pavées qui s’entrelacent pour finalement converger vers la Grande Place au centre du village.
Quatre quartiers, quatre visages : Le centre bourg est le cœur de vie. On y trouve l’église et son parvis refait à neuf, la grande place du marché, les Halles, l’Office de Tourisme et bien sûr les rues piétonnes commerçantes qui mènent à la Plage Centrale. Au sud, le secteur côtier de la Grière prisé par les résidents secondaires ; le quartier du phare, en lisière de forêt ; enfin plus au nord, en revers de dune, le hameau de la Terrière.
