This memorial consists of a triangular brick patio, set in a herringbone pattern, with two low brick walls across the curved top of the triangle. A red granite monument listing the names of the 44 members of the 143rd is shown, plus this narrative:

This memorial is dedicated to the men who served their country as members of the Wilburton, Oklahoma National Guard Unit.After the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, the 143rd was mobilized for active duty during summer encampment at Fort Polk, Louisiana. On September 20, 1950, the Unit left Wilburton via train for Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, with a contingent of 44 men. After one year of training, part of the Unit was assigned to the Far East Command to serve in the Korean Conflict and the remainder of the Unit was assigned to Germany for duty in Europe.
