Long Description:

This McCormick Cream Separator is a hand-powered floor-mounted 3-S cream separator manufactured by McCormick Deering. The separator has a large polished metal bowl on top and a cream colored enameled painted finish to the lower section and stand. There are two spigots, as the milk is separated the cream is running from one spout into a metal cream can or pail and skim milk flows from a second spout into another pail. The cream is usually churned into butter. The skim milk generally is fed to hogs or other farm animals.

The McCormick cream separator is most likely manufactured about 1930 based on the color and style of the base and that it is a manual hand crank model.

The Fort Ostell Museum society was founded in 1967 with their first museum was housed in a log building. Fort Ostell Museum moved this newly constructed facility in 1987.

This is an interesting museum with displays divided into topics: sleigh display, nurses at PMH (Provincial Mental Hospital), creamery, original Fort Ostell, World Wars, early bridal dresses, a school rooms and many household appliances. Near the entrance is a guest book and a timeline highlighting events from 1867 to 2017.
