In Providence, within Roger Williams Park, is a sidewalk with this marker embedded in it about the WPA work done here.
To get to the Roger Williams Park, from I-95, go south of Providence, then take the exit for Rhode Island Route 10. Follow Route 10 east to the entrance to the park about 3/4 mile from the exit. From there, follow the main road through the park to the intersection just beyond the entrance to the zoo. Park the car near the natural history museum, then walk from the natural history museum along the sidewalk back tward the zoo. Along the sidewalk is the mark.
The marker is a medal embedded in the cement. On it is the text:
"Built by Work Projects Administration
R.I. 1940"
I found a corresponding entry on a web site listing such projects in Rhode Island. It had an entry for Roger Williams Park that lasted from 1935-1940 that included sidewalk work.
