"The former bus stop shelter of the Godesberg II station, also known as the Rheinallee bus stop shelter or the old bus stop shelter, is now used as a bistro and kiosk. The building, erected in 1911, is located at a bus stop about 200 metres northwest of the Godesberg railway station at the corner of Rheinallee 1a / Rüngsdorfer Straße and is a listed building.
History of the
On 22 May 1892, between Godesberg and today's Bundeskanzlerplatz in Bonn, a single-track, steam-powered narrow-gauge tramway on its own track began operating. The southern extension to Mehlem was opened on 1 April 1893. In the years 1910 and 1911 the line of the tram Bonn-Godesberg-Mehlem (BGM) was electrified and extended to two lanes. Since the construction of an underpass for the nearby railway line of the Left Rhine Line and the simultaneous raising of the track bed of the railway made it necessary to lower the surrounding area, it was necessary to demolish the original tramway waiting hall in the same year".
